Individual members of Central United Church congregation, through their envelope givings, and the Women of the United Church through a gift of money, support the Mission and Service Fund of The United Church of Canada.
For more information about the Mission and Service Fund and details of the work it does in the world:
The magazine Mandate is also a source of information.
A special Sunday church worship service for Mission and Service is conducted once a year and monthly Minute for Mission information is promoted to the congregation.
Members of the congregation sometimes personally participate in short term mission projects to other countries. One member, a nurse, recently returned from Guatemala where she served with Missionary Ventures Canada, an ecumenical organization. She was generously supported by individual members and she is sharing her pictures and experiences with the congregation.
Eritrea is another country that continues to receive support since our pastor's wife made a mission trip there two years ago. The recent war has devastated these people who are among the poorest of the poor countries in the world.
In past years our Youth Group and individual members participated in Medical Missions to Central America
The weekly offering of the church school children is given to a different mission each year. Sleeping Children Around the World being a recent one.
These are only a few examples of the ways that Central United Church people support the mission of the church to the wider community and the world.
